FAQs

Where in Palestine are the dates grown?

All our sweet and juicy dates have been grown for generations by traditional Palestinian farmers in the fertile pastures of the land of Jericho, famous for its natural spring water. The Dates are rich in fibre, vitamins and minerals and packed with super food energy and flavour.

How does it help the farmers?

The farmers who grow our Palestinian Dates generally have just a small plot of land, which they rely on as their main source of income. At Penny Appeal, we ensure that they receive a fair wage, so they can provide for their families and maintain a thriving business.

However, it’s not just the farmers who we will help from your support. With more money to spend locally on goods and services by the farmers, other businesses will receive new income, which in turn will boost the local economy, benefitting the whole community.

How much of the money goes to Charity?

All money from the purchase of the Dates will go to Palestine, along with 100% of the profits going towards Palestinian projects. In particular, by purchasing the Dates, you will help fund Penny Appeal’s mobile water tanker, supplying clean fresh water to schools and hospitals, support orphan sponsorship projects that look after children orphaned by recent conflict and rebuilding damaged infrastructure like schools, water facilities and medical centres.

Why are Penny Appeal selling dates?

To raise vital funds for the people of Palestine. With your help, we want to rebuild destroyed buildings and facilities, provide clean water to areas cut off from national supplies and provide safe homes for children who have lost family members in the recent conflict.

What else can I do to support projects in Palestine?

For just £30 a month you could become a Friend of Palestine and help us continue our life-transforming work. Over 30 percent of children in Jerusalem do not go to school. Existing schools are full, and children are being turned away from learning. This means that children living in poverty have little chance of succeeding in life. Penny Appeal has completed the construction of our Islamic School to empower hundreds of Palestinian children. We teach a broad curriculum including English, Maths, Science and Islamic studies. With your help, we can do more: we can build more schools and give to more children the start in life that they deserve.
